COVID-19 Collaborative
COVID-19 Collaborative
Mission
The COVID-19 Collaborative is a countywide multi-sector collaboration of stakeholders fighting COVID-19 and its impacts on our community by advancing a coordinated action plan driven by science and best practices in public health and equity.
As the pandemic shifted in Fall 2022, the CFMC convened a meeting of key stakeholders to discuss the future role of the Collaborative. In response to input from the group and county leaders in mental health, the group will become the Community Wellness Collaborative, focusing on mental health. If you are interested in participating, please contact Michael Castro, CFMC Director of Community Initiatives and Partnerships.

Outreach & Support Services Workgroup
To implement the Community Health worker model/ systems navigator in Monterey County. To develop best strategies in aligning existing programs and ensure residents have access to accurate information related to testing, quarantine support and wage replacement. Lastly, deploy community health workers to educate the community about the vaccination process and mitigate fears associated with it.
Communications & Marketing Workgroup
To build upon an existing communication framework to reach all residents of Monterey County, specifically those populations most disproportionately impacted by the spread of Covid-19. To nurture and create a united voice of many to amplify, enhance and optimize messaging to reduce the spread of COVID-19 throughout Monterey County, so, together, we achieve local public health and economic recovery goals.
Past Groups
- Science & Best Practices Advisory Group – Provides scientific leadership and a data-driven approach to drive the collaborative forward in 1) reducing the rate of infection 2) contact tracing and 3) vaccination process. The goal is to utilize existing indicators and data to identify hot spots and areas that need additional capacity and interventions.
- Resources & Funding – Identifies existing resources and align funding to support the work groups. If needed, procure new sources of funding to support the work of the collaborative. In developing the work plan ensure resources are secured to move the work forward.
- Testing Workgroup – Contributes to reducing overall COVID-19 infections by developing a work plan, defining resource needs and coordinating implementation of a testing strategy.
