Valuation, a combined fact and legal issue of great complexity and tax risks, is central to much of the estate and succession planning for high wealth families, especially those with closely-held business entities and substantial investment assets. Attorneys and CPAs must be aware of valuation issues and practical planning when selecting and working with business valuation appraisers. John Prokey will present key current valuation issues and consider developments in the Tax Court and appellate courts that impact on how we effectively structure and document entities, gift and estate transfers, and deal with IRS challenges.
