Affording College: Perspectives from 2014 Scholarship Winners
The importance of attaining a college degree, and the debt that many students and families take on to achieve that goal, are are becoming significant national issues. Students who complete a four-year degree can expect, on average, to earn $830,000 more than those with only a high school diploma over their liftetime.

CFMC has partnered with the Autism Society of California and the Finnigan Family, the award the inaugural Matthew Paul Finnigan Memorial Scholarship for the 2015/16 School Year. Two high school graduates were awarded scholarships for the upcoming year: Jong Ho Lee was awarded a $1,500 scholarship and Clayton Marnin was awarded a $500 scholarship.

The Monterey Peninsula Country Club established The Morse Foundation Scholarship Fund in 2015 to provide scholarships to employees and their family members to promote learning and enhance the quality of life for employees. During its first round of scholarships the Foundation’s Board selected four students to receive scholarships of $5,000 each.

A scholarship can make an enormous difference in the life of a student. One such student is William Samples, the 2015 recipient of the Margaret and Seba Bronson Scholarship. William graduated from North Monterey County High School and will be studying molecular biology at Humboldt State University with the goal of pursuing a career in medical research.
