Northern Monterey County Foundation Grants $34,000 to 12 Nonprofits

NORTHERN MONTEREY COUNTY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES GRANTS $34,000 AWARDED TO 12 NONPROFITS in 2019

Monterey County, California — The Northern Monterey County Foundation (NMCF), an affiliate fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County, has awarded its third year of grants to benefit the communities of North Monterey County. A total of $34,000 was awarded to 12 organizations serving Northern Monterey County residents.

The NMCF, established in 2016, raises funds to provide grants now and into the future. Since its start, the NMCF has provided nearly $94,000 in support to more than 20 local nonprofits. It is supported by generous individuals, families and business who want to give back to their communities.

Grants totaling $34,000 were made in 2019 to the following 12 projects and programs:

Animal Friends Rescue Project:  $3,000 to provide Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinics in North County

Central California Writing Project: $1,500 for the Young Writers’ Summer Workshop to develop students’ writing skills

Coastal Kids Home Care:  $3,000 to support in-home nursing and palliative care for children with serious illness

Community Human Services: $3,000 to provide outpatient mental health services at the Castro Plaza Family Resource Center

Foundation for Monterey County Free Libraries: $3,000 in capital support for the North County Bookmobile

Girls Incorporated of the Central Coast: $2,500 for the Growing Together: Mother/daughter communication program

Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services:  $3,000 to provide practical and financial support for families of children with cancer

Legal Services for Seniors:  $3,000 for no-cost legal representation for North Monterey County seniors

Partnership for Children: $3,000 to help increase access to medical care and support for children with serious illnesses

Prunedale Senior Center: $3,000 to provide recreation, education, meals and social outlets for North Monterey County Seniors

Rancho Cielo: $3,000 in operating support to provide vital services and vocational training

Together in Pajaro: $3,000 to help fund the operations and maintenance of Pajaro Park

The NMCF is guided by an advisory board of North County residents who have a deep understanding of needs in the region.
