2019 Neighborhood Grants Awarded
$50,000 Granted to Resident-Led Groups Through Neighborhood Grants Program
The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC)’s Neighborhood Grants Program has granted $50,000 to volunteer-led groups working to improve their communities in Monterey County.
“The goal of the Neighborhood Grants Program is to empower residents to lead change in their neighborhoods,” said Erika Matadamas, Program Officer for the CFMC.
The Neighborhood Grants Program supports grassroots groups who are working to improve their communities for themselves and their neighbors.
Grants included support for groups who organized parent and volunteer-led programs focusing on youth sports and leadership, cultural arts programs, advocacy and support groups and neighborhood improvement.
Since the program’s inception in 1997, more than $1 million has been awarded.

| Los Padres Surf Club | $2,500 | Surfing lessons |
| Monterey County NAACP Youth Council | $3,000 | Annual Youth Summit |
| Padres de Niños Especiales del Sur del Condado | $4,000 | Grupo de apoyo para padres de ninos con necesidades especiales/ Support group for parents with special needs |
| Salinas Boxing Club Inc | $4,000 | Boxing equipment |
| Team Villa Boxing | $3,500 | Youth boxing and physical fitness |
| Tu Puedes King City | $4,000 | Community dance classes and health workshops |
| Yaocuauhtli Danza Cultural | $4,000 | Difundir la cultura indigena a la comunidad/ Share indigenous culture with the community |
