How to Help Orlando
Many are wondering what they can do in response to the mass shooting in Orlando on June 12. Here are two ways to offer your philanthropic support. To help victims and their families directly you can donate to the OneOrlando fund. To support nonprofits that are assisting the victims, you can contribute to the Better Together Fund at the Central Florida Foundation.
The OneOrlando Fund will offer support to victims and their families. The OneOrlando Fund is a project of Strengthen Orlando, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation created for the purpose of supporting and starting projects to strengthen the Orlando community.
The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) has contributed $5,000 to OneOrlando through its OutReach fund. OutReach is a field of interest fund which supports organizations that improve the quality of life for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals. Its goals include increasing public awareness and enhancing services of LGBT-serving agencies. CFMC fund holders have also recommended grants from their donor advised funds.
Our support is a reminder of the connectedness of our communities and people as we struggle to make sense of horrific events.
