Tuesday, July 16, 2024

Community Foundation for Monterey County, 2354 Garden Road, Monterey
Fee: $50 Advance registration is required.

Attend this training to deepen your understanding of the basics of writing strong funding proposals. Learn how to help your nonprofit organization stand out and better demonstrate its potential. The training will focus on:

  • Understanding and strengthening the components of grant proposals, including measuring and evaluating impact.
  • How grant writing reflects an organization’s priorities and values
  • Current approaches, interests and perspectives in grant writing to foundations
  • Keys for successful proposals

Training format

This interactive session will be held in-person with opportunities to ask questions, connect with others and begin drafting proposal sections. A light lunch will be provided.

Bonus

In addition, participating nonprofits may access an hour of one-on-one consulting time with the trainer for individualized support following the training. ($200 value)

Teams

Many people contribute to the overall process of developing grant proposals, such as those researching opportunities, developing programs and budgets or even reviewing drafts. For the most value, we encourage at least one person per organization to attend the training in-person, however others from your team are welcome to attend synchronously via Zoom at no additional cost.

Intended Audience

This training welcomes those with some experience preparing grant proposals who are looking to get better at it. Nonprofit organizations with a current revenue strategy that includes grants should find the training valuable. Those with recent staff changes or leadership transitions may also benefit.

This training is not geared toward beginners. If your nonprofit is brand new to grant-seeking or you want a basic overview of preparing grant proposals, we recommend you explore the following other resources first:

  • Intro to Proposal Writing This is a free, self-paced, online resource offered by Candid.
  • Introduction to Finding Grants This is a free, self-paced, online orientation to identifying potential funders offered by Candid.
  • Nonprofit Ready offers a free certificate program that can be used for CFRE Continuing Education Credits. Its courses cover the entire grant cycle, so you can get everything you need in one easy place.
