Are you in good standing with the Attorney General’s office? We’re hearing from quite a few nonprofits lately who learned too late that they’d missed a deadline for their annual nonprofit filing – and faced dramatic consequences for it. Government funding was withheld from one childcare nonprofit, the CEO said, because his nonprofit was showing as “delinquent” on the state database of nonprofits. Another organization leader in San Diego tells us their nonprofit was barred from participating in Giving because they, too, had received a “delinquent” status.
All this is to say: be sure you know your filing deadline, check your snail mail for notifications from the AG’s office (you won’t receive an email), and join us for this webinar to answer such compliance-related questions as:
- How do I use the Attorney General’s website to see if we are in compliance?
- What do the various status categories (such a delinquent, suspended, revoked, etc.) mean for our organization and what we can and can’t do?
- What are the forms and deadlines we need to know from:
- California Attorney General’s office
- California Franchise Tax Board (FTB)
- California Secretary of State
- What if I missed filing a form several years ago? What do I do now?
- Are there any tips for being sure we stay in compliance? (Hint: yes, there are.)
