Connecting with Donors, Asking Donors – Virtually

During this COVID-19 Crisis, it is essential for your nonprofit to communicate strategically with your supporters and donors. What role can phone calls and other virtual, personalized steps play in this effort? How can you and your team invest time for this, even if your smaller nonprofit doesn’t have a dedicated fund development staff. All are welcome to join us for this interactive session led by Jo Kenny designed to help you:

• Identify your donors to reach out to personally at this time.
• Build an effective script for a phone conversation. (E.g. putting voice to your organization’s value to the community now and in the future, and naming what your organization has been doing/planning during the shelter in place.)
• Increase your comfort with this tool through practice conversations.
• Identify follow-up tools to stay in touch with donors.

A follow-up session will be offered on May 14 at 1:30 p.m. for participants to share what happened when they tried out this approach with actual donors!

About the facilitator:

Jo Kenny, Kenny Consulting, has over 35 years of experience in nonprofit executive management, organizing, training and fund development. She currently serves as Parks Philanthropy Director for Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks. Jo was a senior adjunct faculty member with the Gill Foundation, Training and Technical Assistance Department, writing curricula and providing fund and organizational development training in communities across the country for five years.
