Kelly McMillin
Commander, Salinas Police Department
Kelly McMillin was born in San Jose and raised in Hollister, California. He graduated from Hartnell College and Saint Mary’s College of California. In 2006 Kelly received his Master of Public Policy as a member of the first graduating class of the MPP program at the Panetta Institute for Public Policy at CSUMB.
Kelly has been a peace officer since 1984 and a Salinas Police Officer since 1988. He has served in a variety of assignments including investigations, vice/narcotics, Special Weapons and Tactics, administration and patrol. Kelly is currently the Director of Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating violence prevention and intervention efforts, and developing policy to address those issues.
Kelly is a board member and past president of Valley Health Associates, a drug and alcohol treatment center in Salinas. He is a Director of the California Rodeo Salinas and past board member of the Salinas Police Activities League. Kelly volunteers with a number of other community events. He lives in Salinas with his wife Teresa and their son Liam.
