Awards

The Community Foundation for Monterey County holds several endowments which are used by the sponsoring agencies to support awards in various fields.
Teaching Awards Recipients
AIA Monterey Bay Concepts Competition Fund -- To underwrite the expenses, awards, and other related costs of the Concepts Competition.
Dr. William D. Barr Scholarship Fund for Excellence in Educational Leadership -- Established in honor of Dr. Barr for the purpose of "recognizing excellence in educational leadership.”
Carol C. W. Butterfield Bacon Scholarship Fund – To enable members of the Northern California Book Publicist's Association to benefit from summer programs at Stanford and UC Berkeley.
The Nancy Wheelis Dodd Fund -- Established to help parents in recovery, especially mothers, to attain financial self-sufficiency.
The Allen S. Griffin Fund – Funds annual awards for outstanding teachers on the Monterey Peninsula at the High School and college level.
Anthony Nicholas Narigi Memorial Baseball Endowment -- To recognize and reward excellence, achievement and promise in youth baseball.
Theodore R. Sarbin Research and Scholarship Award Fund --To support ongoing research and activities in the areas of his life's work.
Robert Stanton Award Fund – For outstanding architects from the Central Coast
Willemsen Family Fund – Although this is a donor-advised fund, it supports the annual middle- and elementary-school teaching awards.
Eligibility: Criteria for each award are determined by the founding agency, which selects winners and administers the award process.
Application: Candidates apply to, or are nominated by, the organizations sponsoring the award.
Funding: Winners’ awards are usually presented at the sponsoring agencies’ events. The awards are payable directly to the winner. The Community Foundation for Monterey County will request Form W9, as required by law.
Evaluation: Requirements vary depending on the award, but will be explained in the award letter as needed.
