Nonprofits, Immigration, Deportation

July 26, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Workshop Overview

Many local organizations have been active in helping families know their rights, develop emergency plans, and cope with the present immigration situation. But how are nonprofit organizations and agencies themselves affected by the current climate?

Those who provide or manage services to immigrant communities are invited to come together to talk about how this is impacting our work as nonprofits and share effective strategies. The session will include panel discussions and break-outs for further conversation.

  • Learn how your nonprofit can be an ally and make your workplace a safe space for immigrants
  • Think through how your nonprofit might respond to an ICE raid (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)
  • Explore how you might adjust program strategies to better serve immigrant communities
  • Discuss ways to address mental health/self-care concerns for providers
  • Hear about the legal implications of a nonprofit’s actions

Discussion presenters:
Watsonville Law Center, Hartnell College, United Farm Workers Foundation and more.  Come prepared to share your suggestions and concerns as we work together to build healthy, safe and vibrant communities.
